Anarchists in the Gulag (and prison and exile)

Looking for Max Chernyak

with one comment

Anarchist, barber, exile, wobbly, partisan, and number one secret agent of the Makhnovist movement… Who was Max Chernyak [aka Maxim Cherniak] and what happened to him?

“In short, the founder of the Makhnovist Kontrrazvedka [counter-intelligence], as a real kontrrazvednik, has up to now not yielded his secrets to researchers” Kontrrazvedka by V. Azarov

“It is unclear what became of him.” http://militants-anarchistes.info

The next issue of KSL: Bulletin of the Kate Sharpley Library will have an article pulling together various sources to tell the story of this extraordinary life in extraordinary times.
